Auburn High to host 9th annual Soccer for a Cure in April

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - Two east Alabama high school soccer squads will team up in a few friendlies to help raise funds for cancer awareness in Lee County.

The 9th annual Soccer for a Cure game will take place on Thursday, April 7 at Duck Samford Stadium between Auburn High and Opelika High School.

Both boys and girls junior varsity and varsity teams will play one another, beginning at 3:30 p.m. CT. A raffle will be held for three special items - signed jerseys signed from three former U.S. Women's national team players, including the legendary Mia Hamm.

All proceeds from the game go to East Alabama Medical Center to help local families that are struggling with cancer.

Raffle tickets are $5 and will be available at the game or at Play It Again Sports, located at 3051 Frederick Rd. in Opelika.
