SMITHS STATION, AL (WTVM) - Smiths Station Freshmen Center hosted their second annual career fair at their Smiths Station Junior High School gymnasium on Tuesday morning.

There were more than 20 vendors in attendance made up of local businesses and colleges.

This fair was specifically target at freshman in an attempt to expose them to various career options early on in their high school careers.  One of the requirements for students before they attended the career fair was to dress for success.

Beth Parkman, the career coach for Lee County Schools, said this about why freshman are targeted.

"The conversation starts no early on, how to dress for success, how to interact with careers, companies, and even colleges," Parkman said. "What can we do to get these students the most prepared for the next step after high school."

Following last year's career fair, the students gave Parkman great feedback and were happy this was available at school. There were opportunities for students with all different interests at the fair and it seemed to be as much of a success the second time around.
