MOST WANTED: Xzavaien Jones

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - It's been four days since the fatal shooting of a man inside of a Columbus Mall, and police need your help locating the person responsible.

Columbus police continue to search for the man who opened fire inside Peachtree Mall. You can help them solve this case and help put a killer behind bars.

Xzavaien Jones, 18, is the man Columbus police are searching for, and he's on the run.

Police say Jones opened fire outside the food court of Peachtree Mall Saturday evening.

When the smoke cleared, 24-year old Anthony Meredith was shot multiple times and died from his injuries a few hours later.

"I do not know of a motive as of right now or why this happened," said Officer Paul Moody with the Columbus Police Department. "This is a very serious thing, another life was taken and so we are actively involved in finding the suspects that did this."

Officer Moody says Jones is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached when spotted.

He says right now police are trying to determine if Jones acted alone or if there were others involved.

"We are actively involved in this investigation trying to locate him, if there are any other suspects maybe someone who was also in the food court at the same time, please call and let us know that information," Officer Moody said.

Remember, whatever information you have can be crucial in this investigation. So do your part and help police find Jones and bring closure to the family of Anthony Meredith.
