ORLANDO (Ivanhoe Newswire) -- When it comes to saving water, the best way to do that is by ripping up your lawn. But it doesn’t have to be that drastic; there are some easy ways to save water which will, in turn, save money.

If you’re more of a bath person, you’re using 40 to 50 gallons of water every time you take one. But a 10 minute shower only uses about 25 gallons.

And if you really want to save water cut your shower down to five minutes, which can save you up to 1,000 gallons a month.

And don’t let all of that warm-up water go to waste. Catch it with a bucket and use it to water your plants.

But, the shower isn’t the biggest water user in your home, the toilet accounts for more than 26 percent of total water usage. Filling a two-liter bottle with water and putting it in the tank will trick your toilet into using less water.

Turning off the faucet while brushing your teeth can save up to 50 gallons a week. Fill up a cup with water and use it to rinse instead.

Also, fix those leaky faucets. Just one drop per second can waste up to 3,000 gallons of water a year.

For you meat eaters, according to a water research report, producing one pound of beef requires nearly 18,000 gallons of water. You don’t have to go vegan but just doing meatless Mondays will save the planet 65,000 gallons of water per year. You can go to this link to find out just how much water you use on a daily basis and where you can save.
