COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

A Fort Benning Brigade being shuttered by the Pentagon has found a new home for a memorial to more than 80 of its fallen soldiers.

The 3rd Brigade Combat Team is moving its Fallen Heroes Memorial from its headquarters at Fort Benning to the nearby National Infantry Museum in Columbus.

The brigade of about 4,000 soldiers will be shut down April 15 as budget cuts force the Army to downsize.

Community supporters are raising $50,000 to move the brigade's memorial to the museum's outdoor Walk of Honor, where it will join about 30 other memorial tributes to fallen soldiers.
