COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

The Oglethorpe Bridge is open again after it was closed last week by Columbus police.

Officials were on the scene trying to collect evidence related to the incident where a soldier was killed when his vehicle went off of the bride last Tuesday.

Fort Benning Command Sergeant Major Thomas Morgan, 50, was killed when his jeep landed in a tree under the bridge.

Another soldier, Justin Prohaska, hit Morgan's jeep as he was trying to avoid a stopped vehicle on the bridge. Prohaska surrendered to police last Friday and bonded out the same day.

Prohaska was scheduled to go before a judge Tuesday morning on vehicular homicide charges, but waived that hearing.

The case now goes to Superior Court.
