AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - One of Auburn University's most beloved students and employees got the surprise of his life for his 30th birthday.

Welcome to the best surprise birthday party ever - War Eagle style! The guest of honor is Auburn's beloved Josh Wetzel.

The Auburn family fell in love with the Army sergeant and his wife Paige. The Auburn community rallied around the couple when they learned the passionate Auburn fans were at Water Reed after Josh lost both legs in an IED blast in Afghanistan.

The couple fought on together through Josh's long recovery. When he was discharged, they moved to Auburn. Josh went back to school at AU and earned a job in media relations.

"We didn't know what we were going to do when we got out of Walter Reed [Army Medical Center], they provided a path for us," Paige said.

In February, Paige learned another miracle would soon be on the way, and kept it a secret for more than a month to create a historic announcement for Josh's 30th birthday.

"I see I am going to the Master's and that's really exciting and then she puts the baby on there and I was just like whoa," Josh said.  "I started crying. I love babies, and just excited to be a dad again. It's cool to find out on the nation's largest video board."

"The reaction was really special and that's what made it all worth it," Paige said.

Future big sister Harper is just as excited - and she says she wants a little brother.

Happy birthday Josh, and congratulations to The Wetzel family - we can't wait to meet the newest member of the Auburn family in October!
