LAGRANGE, GA (WTVM) - It was a night to remember for Northside - a come-from-behind victory Monday night over LaGrange kept their region title hopes alive.
Just one out, one strike away from defeat, the Patriots got a clutch hit from Kenny Harrell with runners at first and second to tie it up at 7 in the bottom of the 7th.
They had an opportunity to end it with the bases loaded later in the inning, but a clutch play by Matthew Anderson kept the Grangers in it and forced extra innings.
LaGrange would go down in order in the top of the 8th, and with momentum swinging their direction, Northside pounced on the opportunity to win the game in the bottom of the inning.
The Patriots got the bases loaded with no outs. Drew Haywood hit a simple sac fly to center. It was deep enough to allow a run to score, and Northside won 8-7 in eight innings.
The win keeps Northside in the hunt for a regular season region title. They'll meet Columbus later this week in two games that could decide who wins the region.
LaGrange and Hardaway are fighting for the 4th and final playoff spot, and hey meet twice this week. If Hardaway wins both, they get the 4th spot. If not, the Grangers will finish 4th.
