(WTVM) – Earlier this year President Obama gave the all clear for women to have combat positions in the military.

Women are breaking barriers that have stood in their way for generations.

The army is getting ready to properly prepare new trainees. Kaitlyn Stanton recently enlisted as a fire support specialist, and Tammy Barnett is becoming the first woman to join the army infantry. Barnett will be training at Fort Benning next year.
