COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – Jessica Roberts, the reigning Miss Fulton County's Outstanding Teen 2016, will participate in a service project on April 16 as a part of a Miss America Organization project "Miss America Serves."

As a part of her project, Roberts will be collecting money for the animals at Paws Humane. Roberts is helping as a part of her pageant platform, "People helping animals, animals helping people," which is also the motto of the Columbus-based nonprofit animal rescue.

Other participants in the Miss America Organizations will also participate in community service projects across the nation, fundraising through volunteerism.

"'Miss America Serves' will bring together Miss America contestants and volunteers from the state organizations to create service events that address critical needs in their communities," a press release said.

Fundraising tables will be set up outside the Columbus Lions football game at the Civic Center on Saturday, April 16, beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday. Roberts is a Junior Lady Lions cheerleader.

People who are interested in volunteering with Paws Humane can also learn how to do so during Saturday’s fundraiser.
