Fort Benning hosts 3rd Brigade inactivation ceremony

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Friday was a big day at Fort Benning as the third brigade was inactivated during a ceremony.

The ceremony took place at 9:30 a.m. on Kelly Hill.

"I came to Fort Benning for the first time in 1997 and the Brigade existed here then… It's not an easy thing to do when you fold the colors- but when you do it right like we have been doing over the course of this week. It makes it a little bit more palatable, but I imagine emotions are gonna run pretty high today," LTC Fred Tanner said, with the Task Force 128 Infantry Commander.

Along with the inactivation ceremony, fallen members of the brigade were remembered during a ceremony yesterday afternoon.

All 80 of their names were read aloud and a wreath place on the monument.
