PINE MOUNTAIN, GA (WTVM) - In an announcement made on Thursday, Callaway Gardens said they now own The Lodge and Spa at Callaway Gardens.
The Lodge and Spa first opened in November 2006; the facilities feature 149 guest rooms and suites with original artwork from Athos Menaboni, outdoor fireplaces, a restaurant, lounge, a pool with a cabana and a conference meeting space.
The facility also features the 13,000-square foot Spa Prunifolia. The Lodge and Spa is Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, or LEED, certified supporting the "sense of place" that defines Callaway Gardens.
"This is a historic moment for Callaway Gardens," said William "Bill" R. Doyle III, president and chief executive officer for Callaway Gardens. "Our founder, Cason J. Callaway, built the first hotel rooms in the 1950s to provide Gardens guests a place to stay with after-tax proceeds used to support the Gardens and its endeavors. The addition of The Lodge and Spa is a strategic move to further enhance the Gardens' experience and solidify its future."
The renovations will cost an estimated $2.5 million, and are expected to be completed by March 2017.
The lodge and spa will remain open during the renovations.
