Columbus church to host pep rally for the youth

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – The youth of St. Mary’s Road United Methodist Church is hosting a pep rally to minister to the youth of the community.

The goal of “The Road UMC Morning with Champions” event is to inspire and encourage the youth. There will be drawings for prizes and giveaways.

 There will also be a forum featuring a panel of nationally and internationally known sports athletes who are affiliated with the church.  The forum will be facilitated by DJ Jones, co-host of “Sportsvisions” on Bounce TV.

The athletes participating include Jayson jones, graduate of the Florida State University Seminoles, University of Alabama linebacker Mekhi Brown, former Carver High School football player, Atlanta Falcons linebacker Philip Wheeler, former Shaw High School and Georgia Tech football player and LaCassa Hill, former Columbus High School and East Carolina University softball standout.

“The Road UMC Morning with Champions” will be held at St. Mary’s Road United Methodist Church located at 3993 St. Mary’s Road on April 23 from 10 a.m. until noon.
