MERIWETHER COUNTY, GA (WTVM) - The Meriwether County Sheriff's Department has confirmed that Eugene Lamar Mitchell, 34, has been apprehended and is in custody.
Meriwether County Sheriff Chuck Smith said they received information that Mitchell was reported to be at an apartment off of Freeman Street in Greenville, GA on Sunday, April 17 at about 5 p.m. Mitchell was found hiding in the back bedroom of the residence and was taken into custody without incident.
Mitchell was transported to the Meriwether County Jail for booking procedures and will be housed at another jail facility. He is being held without bond.
The U.S. Marshal's Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, the Georgia Department of Community Supervision and the Spalding County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit assisted in tracking Mitchell down.
Mitchell and fellow inmate Travion Terrell Hall, 29, both escaped from the Meriwether County Jail on April 12.
Hall was arrested on April 13 after officials discovered he was staying in a room at the Garden Inn and Suites Motel in Hogansville, GA.
