COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Jake Farrar pitched a beauty for LaGrange, giving them seven shutout innings en route to a 1-0 victory over the Hardaway Hawks.
"My defense did it for me," Farrar said. "I just went out there and threw strikes and they made a spectacular play out there. All props to them."
Hardaway's Mykel Page pitched a great game in his own right. The only run he surrendered came in the 6th when Jake Howard hit a ball to left that was almost caught by Hardaway's Ryan Anderson.
Farrar finished up by striking out the side in the 7th to give the Grangers the win. He had 10 strikeouts total.
"Jake battled," LaGrange coach David Smart said. "He competed and fought and worked his way out of some jams and did a great job of competing there and finished strong that last inning. You can't ask for anything more than that. The guy goes out there and gives you a solid performance and gives you a chance to win."
The win gives the Grangers the head-to-head advantage over the Hawks, which will be key come playoff time. Both teams are fighting with Harris County for the final two spots in Region 1-AAAAA.
