‘Meet the Candidates’ forum introduces nominees to public

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Several local elections will be here next month before you know it.

On Wednesday night, candidates running for local positions as judge, county clerk, and sheriff came out to the citizens' service building, next to the Columbus Library on Macon Road.

They answered questions from the public and spoke about the platforms they are running on.

Several local sororities organized the event to get the public familiar with the candidates.

Organizers for the event say they want to educate the community about the candidates they will be voting for.

"We have such a large group and people not know exactly who to vote for because we have so many candidates running for office, we thought it was so important that our community get to know who there are," said Tracy Belt, connection chair for Alpha Kappa Alpha.

Our Roslyn Giles was the emcee for the event, and there will be another candidate forum on Wednesday, April 27.
