COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Local lawyers and some rising legal minds in the valley were recognized on Thursday during the annual Law Day Luncheon in Columbus.
The Columbus Bar Association and the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate for Fort Benning honored several people at the luncheon.
Vicky Partin and Carol Hiller were also awarded the Fort Benning and Columbus Bar Association's 2016 Liberty Bell Award winners, respectively, and winning students from local middle and high schools in Columbus were named in the Law Day Essay Contest.
"They are our next generation," said Donna S. Hix, president of the Columbus Bar Association. "There are students who are want to be lawyers or go into law enforcement or education so they to be recognized for their hard work."
U.S. District Court Judge Leslie Abrams from Georgia's middle district was keynote speaker at the event.
