Volkswagen reaches a tentative deal with the U.S. Justice Department, over excessive diesel emissions.
The settlement is expected to include a buyback offer for nearly 500,000 vehicles that have illegal emissions software.
Drivers with the polluting vehicles will be able to either sell back their cars, or have the vehicles fixed.
The issue first came to light in September, when the German Automaker admitted to using sophisticated software to cheat exhaust emissions tests.
The Justice Department and Volkswagen have until June 21st to complete a final agreement that will require public comment and judicial approval, before taking effect.
