ATLANTA, GA (WTVM) - A local student has been nominated and appointed to attend the U.S. Military Academy.
On Sunday, April 17 U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson held a congratulatory reception for 32 high school seniors appointed to military service academies and their families in Atlanta.
Morgan Stockdill, a senior at Columbus High School, was one of the appointees and had the opportunity to meet Sen. Isakson.
"These students are among the very best our state has to offer, and they will join the ranks of other superb students from Georgia who have made us so proud in our U.S. armed forces," said Sen. Isakson.
Those nominees who are accepted into the academies are awarded full four-year scholarships, which includes tuition, books, room and board, medical and dental care.
