Five area teams advance in state soccer playoffs

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Five area prep soccer teams advanced in state tournament play on Tuesday night.

In Georgia, Pacelli beat Savannah Country Day 3-0 to move on to the GHSA Class A boys state quarterfinals. The Vikings will host Mount Paran Christian on Friday.

Spencer saw their run in the Class AAA boys tournament end following a 4-2 second-round loss to Sonoraville in a game played at Kinnett Stadium.

The Calvary Christian girls lost their GICAA state semifinal game at Creekside Christian by a score of 2-1.

In Alabama, it was a sweep for both the Auburn and Smiths Station boys and girls in the AHSAA Class 7A playoffs.

Auburn hosted Prattville in a doubleheader, with the girls winning 4-2 and the boys 2-1 in overtime.  Smiths Station pulled a sweep at Enterprise as well. The girls won their game 1-0 in a shootout, and the boys took it 3-2 in overtime.

Auburn will host Smiths Station in a quarterfinal doubleheader on Saturday.
