(WTVM) -

An historic season for the Northside Patriots officially came to a close Wednesday as they were swept out of the 2nd round by Loganville at home. In both games, the Pats jumped out to an early lead, but failed to keep it.

In Game one, they took a 2-0 lead after one inning. From there, pitcher Mitchell miller was lights out for Loganville. He had 16 K’s, and his offense put up three runs to give them a 3-2 victory in game one.

Northside came out with a purpose in game two, and had a 1-0 lead after one. Pitcher Drew Haywood threw four shutout innings, and it looked like a 3rd game was imminent. Loganville would put up three runs in the 5th and another in the 6th to take a 4-1 lead into the final inning. The Pats got one base runner, but it wasn’t enough, and they were swept.

It was also a bad day for many local teams. LaGrange was swept out as well by Gainesville. They lost the double header 6-3 and 2-1.

In AAA, Callaway was sent home as well by Blessed Trinity. They were shut out in game one, 2-0, and beaten in game two, 5-2.

Taylor County was knocked out by another local team, Schley County. The Wildcats had no trouble scoring in their games, putting up 21 runs in 2 games while giving up just one. Finals for their games were 4-0 and 17-1.

Columbus won game one of their double header, but game two was rained out. They’ll play the final two games of their series with Allatoona on Thursday.
