PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - East Alabama residents came together on Friday night to renew their annual effort to stamp out cancer.
The Russell County Relay for Life was held at Garrett-Harrison Stadium in Phenix City.
The event kicked off with a special reception for survivors followed by a survivor recognition and survivor walk.
Participants say whether or not you've been personally affected by cancer, this is an event the whole community can get behind.
"People whether or not they have a family member or friend, but it's nice to see everybody come together, raise money, and search for a cure for it," said vendor Stephanie Blevins.
This year's theme for the event was "I do not like cancer here, or there, I do not like cancer anywhere."
