COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A Muscogee County candidate for sheriff is fighting back after being disqualified to run for office.
Mark LaJoye filed an appeal Friday in Superior Court. Lajoye's Attorney, Mark Shellnutt, says they're hoping a judge will reverse a decision by the Board of Elections to disqualify his client.
Three other candidates Pam Brown, Robert Smith and Donna Tompkins have also been disqualified for allegedly not filing documents on time.
Incumbent John Darr is running as an independent in November.
