COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - An Olympian was on hand to speak about his experiences at the Columbus Museum Lunch and Lecture Program on Wednesday.
Sergeant First Class Jason A. Parker is currently an international shooter with the Army Marksmanship Unit at Fort Benning.
Sgt. 1st Class Parker also won the gold medal for the Air Rifle in 2007 Pan American Games and was the World Cup gold medalist in 2005 and 2003.
On Wednesday, he talked about his experiences in the past four Olympics he competed in, saying the experience is one of a kind.
"We shoot competitions all the time," Sgt. 1st Class Parker said. "When you get to the Olympics there is nothing like it. With the media and all the energy that surrounds you with 10,000 of the best athletes around. You are all jazzed because you're on the world stage."
Sgt. 1st Class Parker says he will not be competing in the upcoming Olympics in Brazil, but says the Army Marksmanship Unit does have two shooters on the team.
