COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – Skin cancer is one of the most preventable forms of cancer. That’s why sun protection is so important.

Dr. Paula Walker King stopped by News Leader 9 Morning to discuss how to take precautions against sun damage and ultimately skin cancer.

Skin cancer is the uncontrolled growth of cancer cells in the skin.  Left untreated, these cells can spread to other organs and tissues.

The best way to minimize the risk of developing skin cancer, you should use a broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen with a SPF of at least 59.
