(WTVM) – As summer is quickly approaching, Georgia Department of Natural Resource Rangers are asking boaters to be safe out on the water.
Rangers are reminding people of the dangers of being drunk on boats and child safety.
In the state of Georgia, all children ages 12 and younger must have on a life jacket while a boat is in motion.
Georgia Department of Natural Resources Ranger Eric White asks people to be mindful of others in the water.
White says, "If somebody does not have enough experience out here on a boat, maybe somebody more seasoned needs to take control of that vessel. We have a lot of kayakers. A lot of tubers. A lot of wake boarders out here on the water. Everybody needs to keep in mind of swimmers in the water."
Rangers also urge all boaters to review boating laws and responsibilities, reminding them the operator is responsible for the safety of everyone on a boat.
