COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The Historic Claflin School in Columbus is a step closer to being restored.
Phase one of environmental testing is underway at the historic building.
They are working to determine what work needs to be done on the school.
"Today we are going to start testing Claflin for environmental hazards and we'll be working with Geotechnical and Environmental Consultants who has agreed to work with us to do the phase one and phase two testing," said Richard Jessie, Executive Director for Restoration of Historic Claflin School.
Environmental consultants and others are participating in the testing.
