Verdict Reached In Barbershop Murder Trial

After four years justice for the family of Columbus barbershop owner, Charlie Artis came Tuesday afternoon.

Dontevious Doleman and Edward Lee were found "guilty" of 15 different crimes.

The State said the duo were two of the men who took part in a five week crime spree from December 2011 to January 2012 that included the murder of Columbus Barbershop owner, Charlie Artis.

State Prosecutor, Wesley Lambertus told News Leader Nine"

"The fact that the verdict came back guilty on all charges is very satisfactory."

William Kirby, Defense Attorney for Dontevious Doleman, says "My client has maintained his innocence all along and still does despite the verdict."

"My client entered a plea of not guilty at the beginning of this case and he maintains that position," Jennifer Curry, Defense Attorney for Edward Lee told News Leader Nine.

Curry and Kirby say the State needs to further investigate the case and identify a fourth suspect who several witness testified was in the car with Scott, Lee and Doleman at the time Artis was killed.
Sentencing will be held in Judge Art Smith's courtroom Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock.
Attorneys for both men say they plan to file an appeal.
