MIDLAND, GA (WTVM) -

Kinetic Credit Union has announced plans to open a new branch at Lakeside Village in Midland.

The branch will be in the current retail storefront building on the east side of the complex facing Starbucks at 6516 Kitten Lake Drive in Midland. The branch will open in the fall of this year.

“Midland is a growing area of our community,” said Janet Davis, President and CEO. “We are excited to offer a new location that is convenient to the residents of the area, including Harris County.”

The new branch will be smaller than a typical banking location. Known as a micro concept, the location will have only three onsite employees in an approximately 1,500 square foot space.

However, the branch will have three Interactive Teller Machines (ITMs) that will allow members to conduct teller transactions via two-way video.

“The ITMs are an innovative solution to our members’ changing needs,” said Davis. “Members still want the option of a physical location, but are conducting more of their financial transactions online or with their smart phone. The ITM combines technology with personal touch that gives members the best of both.”

ITMs will allow members to conduct the majority of teller transactions they can do in a traditional branch. Using a touch screen video, members will interact with a teller who will work from a remote, centralized location.

Members will be able to choose how they want to communicate with the teller – speaking normally using the built-in sound system, using their own headsets or ear buds, or with the provided handset.

The three onsite employees will provide full service activities, such as opening accounts and closing loans.

The Lakeside Village branch will be Kinetic’s 11th location. The credit union recently assumed operations of three former MEA Federal Credit Union branches on Macon Road, at Bradley Park on Whitesville Road, and in Valdosta as part of a merger.
