GA Power opens new facilities on Lake Harding

VALLEY, AL (WTVM) - New recreation facilities are now open at Lake Harding.

Georgia Power hosted a ribbon cutting on Wednesday morning to officially open the new amenities, which include a new 400 square foot fishing pier.

The new facility also includes 14 new parking spaces.

Each year, more than 80,000 visitors come to Lake Harding.

Dawson Ingram with Georgia Power says this is a part of expanding its 17 lake properties it operates around the state.

"This is just the first step," Ingram said. "Up the lake we have Valley Park. We have plans to expand that. Provide access for facilities there and improve that area where a restroom area and paved parking."

The company is also reminding visitors to keep lake safety in mind all summer long during National Safe Boating Week with easy safety tips available on their website.
