RUSSELL COUNTY, AL (WTVM) - A Russell County family is without a home after a trailer fire broke out on Nuckols Road on Friday.

The cause of the fire is not known, but officials say the structure is a total loss.

Carrie Moore, the owner of the trailer, says her daughter has special needs and doesn't respond to danger well, so she's thankful they left the home moments before the fire.

"I'm thoroughly happy of the outcome,” Moore said. “The volunteer firemen responded very promptly, the sheriff, he was remarkable, Mr. Evans he helped me go back in and get my daughter."

Volunteer fire departments from Cottonton, Ft. Mitchell, Seal, and Uchee Creek all responded to the scene.
