PAWS Humane hosts Memorial Day weekend adoption special

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Pet lovers – looking for a new friend?

PAWS Humane is having a Memorial Day Weekend Adoption Special!

Anitra, the volunteer/community outreach coordinator, stopped by our studios on Saturday to talk about the event.

All dogs and cats older than six months are 50 percent off the regular adoption fee from Saturday, May 28 through Monday, May 30.

"You can just come up and sign in, and walk around our adoption floor, look at the cats, look at the dogs, and then we will set you up with an adoption counselor if you need help finding the right animal for you," Anitra said.

She said even if you can't adopt a fur baby, there are still ways you can help out.

"We do have a wonderful volunteer program," Anitra said. "If you're 16 or older you can sign up to volunteer. You just come up to the shelter in your free time, and you help us do whatever you can help us do."

One of the main things that volunteers can do to help is walk or run the dogs, which gets them out of the shelter for a bit and into the community.

PAWS Humane's Memorial Day weekend hours are Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday from noon to 5 p.m., and Monday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
