UPDATE: Man ID'ed in deadly West Point shooting

WEST POINT, GA (WTVM) -

One man has died after a shooting in West Point, GA on Tuesday, May 31. 

The Troup County Coroner identified the shooting victim as 23-year-old D'Vonte Tucker of LaGrange, GA. 

At approximately 12:30 p.m., the West Point Police Department was notified that an individual who had sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was at G.H. Lanier Memorial Hospital in critical condition.  

Initial investigation revealed that the shooting took place in the 1200 block of East 14th Street inside the city of West Point.  

Tucker was later air lifted to UAB Birmingham Hospital and pronounced dead at 9:07 Wednesday morning. 

His body will be taken to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy. 

The West Point Police Department and GBI agents are currently searching for persons of interest.
