COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – The Columbus Airport Commission continues its ongoing efforts to support the community by temporarily housing Columbus Fire and EMS Department Station 11 starting Tuesday, June 14.

The Columbus Fire & EMS station located at 4612 Warm Springs Road suffered a fire Wednesday night in November 2015.

The apparatus bay portion of the station sustained about $100,000 of significant structural damage. The Columbus Fire Chief submitted a request to the Columbus Airport Commission requesting assistance with housing Engine 11 and its crew in the Airport’s Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) facility temporarily while Station 11 is undergoing remodeling.

Being based at the airport will substantially reduce response times in this area.

The station 11 engine and crew will remain at the Airport until the remodel of Station 11 is complete. The Columbus airport is located at 3250 W. Britt David Road servicing the community with commercial airline and general aviation service.
