COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The annual Law Day for Girls took place on Wednesday, giving attendees a chance to tour the government center in Columbus.
Approximately 50 girls from Girls Inc. of Columbus and Phenix City got to shadow professionals in the state and superior court clerk's office, as well as the district attorney's office.
The girls were also given an interactive experience with attorneys, bailiffs, court reporters, clerks, investigators, paralegals, and other legal professionals as they explored different careers in the area of law.
"I learned about the magistrate court. I talked to the mayor and learned different things that courts do," said one participant.
Presentations included a mini mock trial, and a panel discussion on the plaza level.
