Keppler, Shipp share lead at halfway point of SE Amateur

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Jonathan Keppler and Benjamin Shipp hold a one-shot lead after two rounds of the 87th Southeastern Amateur. The second round was played on Thursday at the Country Club of Columbus

Shipp, who is on N.C State’s golf team, shot a 68 in round two, while Keppler (FSU) had a 69. Both are at 136 (-4) at the midway point.

Auburn native Jared Bettcher (Troy), Cooper Musselman (Kentucky) and Jake Marriott (Augusta) are one shot back at 137 (-3).Steven Fisk (Georgia Southern) and David Snyder (Kentucky) are two strokes off the pace at 148 (-2).

First round leader Nathan Mallonee struggled to a 4-over-74 in his second round to fall three shots back at 139 (-1). Two-time defending champion Grant Hirschman (Oklahoma) is tied for 25th at 143 (+3)

The third round gets underway Friday at 8:30 a.m. ET. The field will be cut after the round to the top 60 and ties for Saturday’s final round.
