COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - With just over two months until the Aug. 23 Phenix City Mayoral election, incumbent Mayor Eddie Lowe announced on Monday that he will be running for reelection.
The Mayor made the announcement in front of over 300 people packed inside the Courtyard Marriott.
At times the people inside were chanting "Four More Years". The Phenix City native has worked hard in the past four years and re-branded the city "Positively Phenix City."
Lowe thinks that this re-branding along with other actions will help him get reelected.
"So there is a lot of things, but the thing that we have done is re-branded the city, 'Positively Phenix City,' we are changing the mindset that Phenix City is a positive place. And it validates it when we see businesses using our logo. They call us and ask if we could use that," said Mayor Lowe.
Lowe will be running against Jerry Barbaree, a Human Resources Director at a Memphis area hospital.
Years before moving to Memphis, Barbaree held the same position at Cobb Hospital in Phenix City from 1988-1994.
