Special fund established for Columbus teen missing in ocean at Myrtle Beach

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A special fund has been established in the name of Jaylin "Jay" Tolbert, the Columbus teen who went missing on June 16 while swimming with his 10-year-old brother in the ocean at Myrtle Beach, SC.

Both boys got into distress while they were swimming. Lifeguards were able to save the younger boy by tossing him a buoy, but they were unable to locate 14-year-old Jay.

Jay was a student at Rothschild Middle School and the son of Salacia "Lacey" Ford, a single mother who works as a domestic and caregiver for local families.

All funds raised will be used for a suitable remembrance service once he is found, and for counseling services for the family.

The account is held by CB&T Bank in the name of Jaylin Tolbert. Contributions may be made at any CB&T Branch.
