Uncorked for Community supports Chattahoochee Valley’s disability community

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - What could be better than a glass of fine wine? How about a glass while supporting a great cause?

The first event for what is called Uncorked for Community taking place today at the Meritage restaurant in Columbus.

This event is to raise awareness and to help the Disability Service Center in Columbus.

Those in attendance were able to sample various wines and appetizers.

All proceeds will go directly to those with disabilities in our community.

The center provides assistance to help the disabled remain independent in day to day activities.

"It's great for us because obviously funding is great, as any other nonprofit will tell you, you need money to run but the bigger thing for us is awareness raising," said executive director Jay O'Neal.

This is the first of two events set to take place. The second event will be held Thursday, June 23 at 6 p.m.

Amber Tides is a sampling of craft beers held at Chattahoochee Brewing Company at 505 13 Street in Phenix City, AL.

Tickets for the Night are $25 and include a pairing event of various craft beers and local cuisine with entry for more wonderful door prizes.

Designated Driver Tickets are also available for purchase to enjoy the local cuisine while avoiding the alcohol, as well as raffle prize tickets for great prizes such as vacation packages, jewelry and much more.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.disabilityservicecenter.org or at the two host sites.
