PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - It might be the off season for high school sports, but at Central High School, they're building for the future.
Work continues on the Red Devils' new indoor practice facility.
It's not just a place for the football team - nearly every sport will get to use the complex.
They'll have batting cages for softball that lower from the ceiling, and the wrestling team will be able to put the mats down for practice in the winter time.
Head football coach Jamey DuBose says this will be a huge help for more than just the athletic department.
"Our school is going to benefit because there's classrooms," DuBose said. "The meeting rooms can work as classrooms. This building, again, is going to be state of the art, it's going to be a great building, and we're excited about it."
Coach DuBose also said the band and ROTC can use the building as well during the long summer days.
They expect the new complex to be completed sometime in December or early January of next year.
