PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - A Phenix City native and former professional player returned to his roots.
Larry Florence, who played for the Nebraska Cornhuskers from 1996-2000, hosted the third Youth Basketball Camp on Monday.
The camp kicked off at 9 a.m. with a greeting and opening from Mayor Eddie Lowe.
He says he is excited to bring his experience back home once again by hosting this camp.
"Growing up in Phenix City we never had basketball camps and I always said when I'm able, I would always want to give back and basketball is what I'm good at," Florence said. "And that's what I wanted to do is have a basketball camp because we don't have many and if it was up to me, we would have these all summer long."
The camp first started in 2012, but took a break last year while Florence was receiving a bone marrow transplant.
