(WTVM) - Winn-Dixie Stores across the Valley are showing their support for veterans and service members this Independence Day.
For the second consecutive year all profits generated at Winn-Dixie stores Monday, July 4 will be donated to Hope for the Warriors.
The national nonprofit organization is dedicated to restoring a sense of self, family and hope for veterans, service members and military families.
In 2015, Hope for Warriors provided more than $300,000 in temporary financial assistance to 264 military families.
Southeastern Grocers, parent company of Win-Dixie, BI-LO and Harveys announced the plan Tuesday. Customers donate simply by shopping on the 4th of July at any of the stores.
They will also be able to make personal donations at checkout. With each donation customers will receive a dedication card to write messages to military members to be displayed on a Wall of Honor in every store.
Last year, Southeastern Grocers raised more than $3 million for wounded veterans.
