Opelika man identified following deadly shooting on South Antioch Circle

OPELIKA, AL (WTVM) – Opelika police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened early Thursday morning.

Officers responded to the 500 block of South Antioch Circle regarding a person who had been shot. Opelika police located 29-year-old Dontavious Jones lying behind one of the apartments suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Jones was pronounced dead on the scene at 5:12 a.m. by Assistant Lee County Coroner Gene Manning.

He was taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences/Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
