PHOENIX, AZ (WTVM) – Former President Bill Clinton, and the husband of presumptive democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, is raising some eyebrows this week.
He was spotted meeting privately for 30 minutes with current Attorney General Loretta Lynch on Monday. The reportedly unplanned meeting took place at a Phoenix, AZ airport.
A law enforcement official familiar with the matter said the former President spotted the A.G.'s plane, then headed over to it and walked on.
The moment drew attention because the Attorney General's office is investigating Hillary Clinton's email practices and there is also an investigation into the Clinton Foundation.
Even though some Republicans and Democrats question the motives behind this conversation, Lynch told reporters the discussion was social.
"I did see President Clinton at the Phoenix airport, as I was leaving. And, he spoke to myself and my husband on the plane. Our conversation was a great deal about his grandchildren. It was primarily social and about our travels," Lynch said.
An aide to former President Clinton said this type of conversation is routine.
