FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) - The distinguished Colonel David Fivecoat has relinquished command of the Airborne and Ranger Training squad at Fort Benning.
Taking command of the elite training squad is Colonel Douglas G. Vincent. The ceremony took place at Victory Pond on Thursday.
Brigadier General Peter Jones spoke on how he believes that Col. Vincent and his team will lead the brigade to higher heights.
"I'm inspired and awed by this amazing opportunity to serve in a unit as historic as the airborne ranger training brigade," Jones said.
"Doug you've got the right leadership skills and patience to take this organization to the next level and we look forward to having you here," Fivecoat said. "But today is about the brigade, especially the amazing people that make this so special and it's bright future under Col. Doug Vincent and and Command Sergeant major Ballesteros. "You know that the greatest soldiers and leaders are not merely assembled. they have to be forged in fire. you are that fire and I look forward to turning up the heat with you."
