Auburn police ID's victim, person of interest in mobile home murder investigation

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) – The Auburn Police Department has identified the victim and a person of interest in a Saturday murder investigation at a mobile home park.

On Saturday, July 2 at 5:05 p.m., Auburn police responded to a shooting call at a residence in Swann’s Mobile Home Park, located in the 1600 block of Lee Road 12.

Officers found a man, later identified as David Green, 46, with a gunshot wound. He was treated on the scene by EMS Paramedics and transported to the EAMC emergency room and was pronounced deceased by an emergency room physician at 6:02 p.m.

Auburn Police determined that the shooting was the result of an altercation between the victim and an acquaintance, Kennedy Harris, 44.

Auburn Police is asking for the public’s assistance in locating this “person of interest,” who also has an outstanding warrant for his arrest on an unrelated case.

Green’s body will be transported to the Department of Forensic Sciences State Medical Examiner’s Office in Montgomery for a postmortem examination.

The case remains under investigation by the Auburn Police Division, State Medical Examiner’s Office and the Lee County Coroner’s Office.
