Boy, 17, killed in West Point apartment shooting

WEST POINT, GA (WTVM) – The West Point Police Department is actively investigating a murder at Oaks Terrace Apartments, located at 700 Avenue E.

According to West Point Police Department Captain Kevin Carter, the shooting occurred around 10 a.m. Tuesday morning. When police arrived to the scene, one person was found dead.

The Troup County Coroner has identified the victim as 17-year-old Juantae Harper, who would have turned 18 at the end of the month. His body has been sent to Atlanta for autopsy. 

Police are working to identify any possible suspects.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is also assisting West Point police in their investigation.
