College merger postponed

Officials say the proposed merger of three two-year colleges in Alabama, including two in the valley area, is being postponed indefinitely.
The decision was announced yesterday to workers at Southern Union State Community College, Chattahoochee Valley Community College and Central Alabama Community College.
One president told workers the timing isn't right for a merger.

No detailed reason was given for the decision.
The consolidations were approved last year, but the merger already has been delayed once before.
