OPELIKA, AL (WTVM) - What's a final round without some drama? There was plenty of it at RTJ Grand National in Opelika Sunday, as we needed a playoff to decide a winner of the Barbasol Championship.
Aaron Baddeley and Si Woo Kim battled for four holes after both were tied at -18 through the first 18. Baddeley then sank a dramatic 27-foot birdie putt to seal the deal and earn his first tour victory since 2011.
"Man it was crazy," Baddeley said of his final shot. "It just started going up the hill it was breaking right in the middle and I was like 'Wait, hang on a second.' You can tell by my reaction just how long it's been."
Once the ball hit the cup, Baddeley tossed his hat in the air in celebration. It's his fourth victory on the PGA Tour.
Kim's approach shot went long and over the green. He chipped to get it close to the hole, setting up the winning shot for Baddeley. The other big story was former Auburn Tiger Michael Johnson. He finished third at -17 in his first PGA Tour event as a pro.
