Auburn man arrested on burglary, property theft charges

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) -

On Wednesday, July 20 the Auburn Police Division arrested Rodritus J. Matthews, 19, from Auburn on warrants charging him with third degree burglary and third degree theft of property. 

The arrest is the result of an investigation of a burglary that occurred on July 16 at a residence in the 1600 Block of Pierce Chapel Road.  

According to the victim, someone unlawfully entered their residence when they weren’t there and stole property valued at more than $1,300.  

An investigation into the incident by Auburn Police resulted in Matthews being developed as a suspect.  

A subsequent search of his residence led to the recovery of property taken in the burglary.  Warrants were obtained for his arrest and he was taken into custody. 

Matthews was transported to the Lee County Jail and will be eligible for a $4,500 bond.
